Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see real wind at my spot?

Real wind comes from the nearest anemometer station. If there is no usable station around your spot, or its latest reading is too old, Tide It shows nothing rather than inventing a value — by design. The forecast always remains available.

I don't see any GO windows, why?

Three possible causes: GO windows are a Premium feature; you need at least one sport enabled in Settings ▸ My sports; and if the week genuinely doesn't match your settings (min/max wind, level), there is honestly… no window to show.

Forecast and real wind tell different stories?

That's exactly why both are shown separately — and it's a choice, not a flaw. A forecast says what the wind will do; a station says what it is doing. The confidence gauge measures the gap continuously and shows it to you, but Tide It never "corrects" a forecast with a reading: a sheltered station would drag down the forecast for an exposed spot, and a station that died yesterday would keep distorting seven days of forecast with its last samples. How does the free Premium month work?

On first launch, Premium activates free for 1 month, with no commitment and no payment method. When it ends, the app automatically returns to the free tier — nothing to cancel. Existing subscribers are not affected.

How do I restore my Premium purchase?

Tide It ▸ Settings ▸ Premium ▸ Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions ▸ Tide It ▸ Cancel. You keep access until the end of the paid period.

My port or spot isn't in the app

Tide It covers 3,500+ ports and 284 surf spots. If yours is missing, create a custom spot (Ports & spots ▸ +) at your exact position: it gets its own tide, real wind and GO windows.

The widget doesn't refresh

iOS deliberately limits widget refresh frequency to preserve battery. Open the app once to force a sync; the widget then follows the budget granted by the system.

Apple Watch shows nothing

Open Tide It on the iPhone once to load your spots: the watch then syncs on its own.

Changing units (knots, km/h, meters, feet…)

Settings ▸ Units: wind in kn, km/h, mph or m/s; heights in meters or feet; temperatures in °C or °F.

Reminder: Tide It is a decision aid for water sports and leisure. For navigation, always refer to official documents and bulletins from maritime authorities.
